OEKO-TEX

At Bubble Baby when we create our products we fully have the planet and our families in mind. Its so important to ensure the products we put on our family members are free from harmful chemicals or toxins. With lots of key terms and certifications, we are here to help break down what it all means, what to look for and where you can find the information on our products.

 What does organic mean?

Organic has become the all encompassing word used by marketers to mean non-toxic and good-for-you; however, this is inaccurate. When it comes to textiles, organic refers to farming methods that require no pesticide or fertilizers in the production of the raw materials that go into your product. Farming however is only one piece of the puzzle and organic doesn’t consider what chemicals might be used in the rest of the production cycle which includes fiber, yarning, weaving, dyeing and finally, cut and sew. Organic is still important because the use of pesticides and fertilizers can lead to detrimental environmental issues such as air pollution, soil degradation and water contamination. Beyond this it can also pose extreme health risks to farmers. Aldicarp, a commonly used cotton pesticide can be lethal if even a drop comes into contact with skin.

What does STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® mean?

OEKO-TEX is an international network of research and test institutes that have come together to create a globally recognized standard to ensure textiles are safe for consumers to use. Their standards consider every single component of the product, from button to thread, and their certification process involves checking each part for known harmful substances, many of which are prohibited or regulated by laws. Harmful chemicals can be used in all sorts of ways; for example, in traditional textiles formaldehyde is often used to get added benefits such as anti-static or anti-wrinkle. By certifying our products with OEKO-TEX we are ensuring our products are both chemical free and safe to use regularly in close contact with skin.

Keep peace of mind with certified chemical-free products

At Bubble Baby, we are dedicated to creating healthy, non-toxic products that are safe for you and the people creating them. Instead of harsh chemicals, we rely only on harnessing the innate benefits of natural materials like raw bamboo—which produces its own natural pesticides—or bamboo charcoal, which has antimicrobial properties.
